The War of 1812 had not been officially declared, yet conflict had begun. The expanding United States continued to push west and north for more and more land. The Indians who inhabited these areas did not see eye-to-eye and a few Chiefs often signed treaties which affected many tribes. Add to this the British who maintained forts on the fringes of the frontier and encouraged the Indians to resist.
One culture sought land for a new home and a new hope; while the other sought to maintain their home and the old ways. Cultures would clash on the American Frontier. The first volley of the War of 1812 would be fired in this remote wilderness.
